Toilet Paper Shortage and Donations

Last week we reached out to the local community to ask for assistance in collecting toilet paper. For all of you that have been to the store lately, imagine getting TP for 130 bottoms plus staff. The struggle is real. Supplies are all back ordered!
At a building with 65 residents plus staff, we go thru 13 to 14 large Costco packs a month times 2 care facilities. That is 28 packs of 48 double rolls. For the past 3 to 4 weeks, we send 3 or 4 staff members out daily to purchase 1 or two packs at a time, depending on the limit. Sometimes there is none to be had.
I asked a friend to put us on a prayer chain, to help us obtain TP. The phone has been ringing off the hook and people have been knocking on the front door to give what they can. We have been blessed by our community. We are grateful and proud of our neighbors.
Thank you for your outpouring of caring and generosity. It has allowed staff members to get back to providing care.

St Patrick’s Day at Somerset 2020
March 24th, 2020Even though our St Patrick’s day group celebration was cancelled (due to Corona Virus prevention measures), this Somerset resident dressed up to cheer staff on and pinch those of us who forgot to wear green!

Rady is a member our hard working, dedicated kitchen and dietary staff at Somerset Retirement Home and Assisted Living.

Somerset Annual Bazaar Nov 15, 2019
November 4th, 2019Somerset Bazaar Friday, November 15, 2019 from 9 am to 3 pm. The public is invited.
Somerset Retirement Home and Assisted Living is at 2025 Tibbetts Drive, Longview WA.
Come have fun with us! You are invited!
There will be beautiful Christmas wreaths for sale outside. Hand-made locally.
There will be handmade arts and crafts inside, including quilts and many other beautiful things. Some items are hand-made by Somerset residents (quilts seen below). Other items are hand-made by local crafts men and women who sell their wares at Somerset’s bazaar each year.
Some of our residents make high quality quilts to sell at the bazaar.
Arts, Crafts, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations, foods, and various holiday goods.
Come join the fun November 15, 9 am to 3 am. We look forward to having fun with you at the bazaar!

Activities Highlights for last 10 days of October 2019
October 23rd, 2019October 28, 11:45 AM Live piano music and singing by Monte Waters.
Knitting Gals club meets Tuesday 29th, 1:30 to 3 PM. All ages are invited, including kids. This is an activity for anyone with an interest in knitting. The public is invited.
Bible Study group meets Tuesday 29th, 2:30 to 3:30 PM.
Camera Club meets Tuesday 29th, 7 to 8 PM. All ages are invited, including kids. This is an activity for anyone with an interest in photography. The public is invited.
October 31, 1:30 PM Halloween party with live music and singing by Phoenix band.
October 31, 6-7 PM children of staff, residents grand-kids, and neighborhood kids will trick or treat in the lobby. Staff will be there to assist residents, including staff will provide residents with candy for the kids.

September 6th, 2019Somerset’s kitchen staff made these desserts from scratch for our recent summer party.

September 3rd, 2019Mariisa is Somerset’s September Employee of the Month. She’s one of our administrators who works hard to make Somerset a great place to live.
Ali is Somerset’s August Employee of the Month. She’s works hard in the kitchen. She looks very happy!
