COVID Update – Good News!

February 4th, 2021

Staff and residents are receiving their 2nd dose of Phizer COVID vaccine on…

Tuesday, Feb 2 from 11AM to 5 PM at New Westside Terrace Retirement and Assisted Living in Longview WA. If you have questions, please call 360-423-9392.

Sunday, Feb 7 from 11AM to 5 PM at Somerset Retirement and Assisted Living Longview WA. If you have questions, please call 360-423-7392.

The FDA website says 2nd dose of Phizer COVID vaccine is expected to give a significant level of immunity starting 3 weeks AFTER 2nd shot.

We test staff and residents regularly. There are no known cases of COVID at our facilities.

We want to stay COVID free. We will continue to follow COVID prevention safety protocols (masks, social distancing, restricted visitation, etc) until COVID is over. We ask for your ongoing cooperation and understanding. Our safety policies have been effective, and will be even more effective after vaccine starts to provide significant partial immunity (3 weeks after 2nd shot).

Note: Vaccination is expected to provide significant partial immunity, not complete immunity. This is why we must continue good safety practices until COVID is over. Keeping your loved ones safe is our top priority.

We continue having many weekly activities, including arts and crafts, entertainment, and exercise classes (safely done). We are safely maintaining a good quality of life for residents.

Staff and residents are still enjoying life and having fun, as you can see in other posts.

Plexi-Glass Safety Door for Safe and Comfortable Visiting

October 10th, 2020

Our maintenance man Armando worked hard and fast building a see through door to make Winter visits from family and friends comfortable for family members.

This plexiglass door allows family members to enter a vacant apartment where they can be indoors, warm and dry while safely visiting their senior relative(s) who will be on the other side of the door. Everyone on both sides of this visiting door will be warm and dry indoors this Winter while visiting.

Many other facilities don’t have something like this and so visitors must shiver in the rain and cold while visiting through an exterior Window, or they are allowed inside without this level of protection for seniors.

We wanted to make it comfortable for visitors in any weather and keep it fully safe for our seniors. This, along with our other safety measures have been working well. We recently tested everyone and all staff and residents still test negative for COVID.

With the cooperation of visitors we will continue to do everything possible to keep our staff and residents safe. The staff at Somerset Retirement Home and Assisted Living thanks all our wonderful visitors for your cooperation!

Covid testing with love and smiles!

October 10th, 2020

After our medical staff were done getting tested themselves, they then tested all other staff and residents with smiles and as much good cheer and fun as possible. We tried to make it as fun as possible for staff and residents while doing a careful job.

Everyone (staff and residents) tested negative! Hooray! Our careful precautions are continuing to work well. So far, no one has got COVID-19 at either of our buildings (Somerset or New Westside Terrace).

We will continue carefully taking precautions and we thank residents’ families and friends for your cooperation with our prevention measures. It is working! Let’s keep it going!

Our goal is for every resident and employee to stay healthy and safe until COVID is over (likely next summer). The cooperation of visitors helps make this possible.

Thank you from Somerset Retirement Home and Assisted Living Longview WA!

Thank you to our dedicated staff and residents families!

April 19th, 2020

Thank you dedicated staff for your hard work, caring, and perseverance.

Thank you residents’ friends and families for your understanding and cooperation with our COVID prevention measures. As is the new normal, please call before visiting Somerset.

Since the situation can change, calling us before visiting is the best way to keep your senior friends and relatives safe, as well as the rest of our seniors and staff. So far our prevention measures are working. No one at Somerset has COVID.

If we continue our careful policy regarding no visitors (except for special circumstances with mask and temperature check) we hope to continue having healthy residents and staff. By being careful, we’ll all get through this.

Thank you to everyone – Somerset Administrators Mariisa Bond Jimenez and Eric Rosgen.

Please see video below of Washington State Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers thanking Washington senior living facilities and staff for their dedication.

Senior Living Nurse Making Masks and Disinfectant Wipes

April 15th, 2020

Ginny, one of our New Westside Terrace (NWT) nurses, has been sewing masks and making cloth sanitizing wipes for NWT and Somerset Retirement Homes and Assisted Living.

Thank you Ginny for your dedication and love. These things are worth more than money can buy.

Note: Cloth sanitizing wipes (including rags, wash cloths, etc) can be made by adding Lysol or any other disinfectant. Liquid bottles of Lysol are affordably available at most grocery stores. They are intended to be refills for Lysol pump spray bottles. When added to a paper towel or cotton cloth, they make great disinfecting wipes out of readily available and affordable materials. We prefer cotton because it’s washable and reusable. If paper toweling shortages occur, we’ll be less affected. Wash and dry resuable cotton wipes on hottest cycle! It’s also good idea to add a little bleach to wash cycle for extra disinfecting.

New Westside Terrace Retirement Home and Assisted Living in Longview WA, and Somerset Retirement Home and Assisted Living in Longview WA are owned by the Bond family.

We care about our staff and seniors and are taking precautions for COVID prevention. So far so good. No one has it at either facility and we want to keep it that way. Please call before stopping by so we can discuss our prevention measures with you. Your cooperation is a big part of prevention.

At the same time, we’re working hard to keep our seniors happy and entertained with senior activities, projects, and live music entertainment.

Musicians regularly give concerts from parking lot in front, and from backyard while residents enjoy from their open windows.
